Ping Pong Trophy

A light-up paddle trophy for Imagineering’s R&D vs. Ride ping pong tournament, designed and built in 24 hours.

I was asked to create a themed ping pong trophy for an office event. Another intern and I had a 24-hour window to design and build a paddle trophy that kept to both the Star Wars and Imagineering themes.

The build

Rapid prototyping

It took an hour to go from concept to a fully modeled trophy. Most of the work went into choosing materials and refining the design.

Final version

The middle of the paddle is white acrylic that diffuses the LED light, and Sorcerer Mickey is engraved into laserable plastic for color and depth. The sparkle on the right is engraved for an edge-lit effect.
